MAKING TRANSITION FROM HIGH SCHOOL TO UNIVERSITY
As you can see above, there are so many difference between high school and university. So, for the first step before we entering university, we need to prepare mentally in order to stay in the line in there.
CHARACTERISTIC OF SUCCESSFUL STUDENT
get organized
Making a plan for what you are going to do and when you are going to do it will make sure you are always ahead of the curve-literally.
divide it up
Studying is not fun to begin with, and forcing yourself through a study marathon will only make it worse. Dividing your work into manageable chunks and rewarding yourself when you finish, each chunk will make you studying more fun.
set a schedule
Do you work better right after class or after you have been dinner? Are you more productive during day or night? Find a schedule that works for you, and stick to it.
study
This one might be obvious, but did you know that there is a right and a wrong way to study? Review your material several days ahead of time, in a small chunks, and in different manners (for example : Write flashcards one day and take practice tests the next). In other words, do not cram.
study group
Sitting down with a group of people who are learning the same things as you is a great way to go over confusing class material or prepare for a big test. You can quiz each other, reteach material, and make sure that everyone is on the same page. After all, teaching someone else is the best way to learn.
ask questions
You are in university to learn, so do not be afraid to do just that ! Ask question to the lecturers, friends or a tutor. This is surefire way to make sure you truly understand the material.
study space
Find a place that will maximize your productivity. Look places that away from television, gadgets and other distractions. Whether its the library, or just the desk in your bedroom, set aside a study space that you will want to spend time in learning.
ACTIVITY : USING LEARNING STYLE TO ENHANCE PERFORMANCE
By answering the given quiz to us from our beloved lecturer, Dr Syafie (https://www.educationplanner.org/students/self-assessments/learning-styles-quiz.shtml?event=results&A=7&V=8&T=5)
Below is the result that I got after taking the quiz :
Auditory: 35%
Visual : 40%
Tactile : 25%
Based on the result, I can see that I am a visual learner.
What can Iearn from this quiz is that as a visual learner, I learn by reading and seeing pictures. I understand and remember things by sight. I can picture what I am learning in my head and I learn best by using method that are primarily visual. I like to see what I am learning.
In addition, I also keen to close my eyes to visualize or remember anything, and I will find something to watch when I am bored. Unfortunately, There are problems that I go through as a visual learner that I may have difficulty with spoken directions and may be easily distracted by sounds.
But, Its not the end of my life right? As a visual learner, I also learn how to improve my learning skills into the next level by following these tips :
1) Sit in the front during class.
2) Use flashcards instead of taking a boring notes
3) Use highlighter for important words
4) Draw pictures to help explain a new concepts and then explain the pictures.
5) Make sure that your eyes are in good condition.
CHARACTERISTIC OF GOALS
- specific
What is that you want, from a particular goal? What you want to achieve? Everything must be clearly specific.
- measurable
You need to identify the quantifiable aspect of the goal. This way you will be able to measure your progress and actually remain motivated.
- attainable
It is good to stretch yourself for a bit, so that you can grow more towards your potential, but it must not be something that is impossible to be real.
- relevant
Is the goal worthwhile and will it meet your needs? Is each goal consistent with the other goals you have established and fits with your immediate and long terms plans?
- time-bound
It is must not be too short, as it will make the unattainable and not be too much.

The memory is retention of information over time or the mind stores and remember information (mental processes and incognition) like computer software.
The brain is the organ, like computer hardware.
THE STORAGE (RETAIN INFORMATION)
Three Different Types Of Memory:
Sensory Memory (SM)
Numerous incoming information from 5 senses will be stored in sensory memory for an instant. If one PAY ATTENTION , the the information will be stored in STM. If not, the information will be lost.
Short-term Memory (STM)
Very limited storage. From the SM, the information will be relayed to STM. While in STM, the information must be REPEATED in order to get it to LTM, otherwise the information will be forgotten.
Long-term Memory (LTM)
This is unlimited and large storage. From STM, information moved to LTM and stored here for later use. If the information is not being used for somtime, forgetting may occur.
